Capston Project: Evalo
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Duration
2025 Jan - Mar
Position
UI/UX & Motion Graphic Deisgner

Evalo is a mobile app that helps construction consultant companies to conduct building conditions assessment. By eliminating manual inefficiencies, Evalo helps consulting firms stay ahead of industry regulations, reduce workload, and deliver faster, more accurate reports.

Challenges
The process of accessing buildings is time-consuming and manual. Building assessors must take notes and photos on-site, and during this process, important information is often lost. Additionally, completing these tasks manually, one by one, makes the process even more inefficient and time-consuming.

Solutions
Evalo streamlines the entire process, allowing assessment teams to:
- Digitize on-site building assessments: Capture photos, record audio, and let AI generate transcripts and key insights in real time.
- Automate Depreciation Report Creation: Instantly compile structured reports that meet the latest compliance requirements.
- Speed Up Evaluations & Reduce Costs: No paperwork, no delays, just efficient, organized, and digitally backed assessments.
By eliminating manual inefficiencies, Evalo helps consulting firms stay ahead of industry regulations, reduce workload, and deliver faster,
more accurate reports.

Design Process
The design process focuses on keeping everything simple and intuitive to ensure building assessors can easily use our app, especially given the large amount of text involved.

User Flows

Branding
Evalo’s branding is designed to be clear, modern, and reliable. Every detail, from the logo to the colors and typography, follows a structured design approach.

Wordmark: A custom Figtree for cohesion

Evalo’s logotype is based on the Figtree typeface, modified to align with the angles and corners of the symbol. These custom terminals and cuts create visual harmony between the text and symbol.

Logo symbol design: Built on Gestalt Principles

The Evalo symbol is an abstract representation that uses an isometric structure and Gestalt principles to merge multiple ideas into one shape:

1. Triple check mark – Represents trust, verification, and approval.
2. Stair set – Symbolizes progress, efficiency, and structured assessment.
3. Buildings – Reflects Evalo’s connection to real estate and evaluations.
4. Components - evaluation, assessment.

Color selection: 60-30-10 rule for balance

Evalo’s color palette follows the 60-30-10 model for a balanced look:

- White (60%) – The main color, ensuring simplicity and transparency.
- Black (30%) – Adds contrast for better readability.
- Bright blue (10%) – Represents trust and gives a modern feel.

Typeface choice: Clear and Trustworthy

Figtree was selected because:

- Its tall x-height improves readability.
- It has enough weight variations for flexibility in UI and marketing.
- Its geometric structure keeps it modern yet trustworthy.
